Assalamu alaikum!
In our journey through life as Muslims, one of our greatest hopes is to earn Allah’s pleasure and mercy — not just in this life, but even after we depart from it. One of the most beautiful means Allah has given us for continuous reward is through Sadaqah Jariyah (صدقة جارية) – ongoing charity.
“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.”
— Sahih Muslim
Sadaqah Jariyah is a type of charity that continues to benefit others over time, and as long as people benefit from it, your reward continues — even after your soul has returned to Allah.
Donating towards the construction of a masjid, school, or hospital
Sponsoring a water well or clean water system
Planting fruit-bearing trees
Distributing Qur’ans or Islamic books that people learn from
Funding education for someone to gain beneficial knowledge
Supporting orphans or those in need in sustainable ways
Sharing knowledge – through teaching or creating Islamic content
Every time someone prays in a masjid you helped build, drinks from a well you contributed to, or learns something you taught — you earn a reward. SubhanAllah!
It multiplies your deeds long after you're gone.
It builds your scale of good on the Day of Judgment.
It leaves behind a legacy of barakah and impact.
Even small acts can become ongoing charity if done with sincerity and the intention to benefit others continuously.
Sadaqah Jariyah is a gift from Allah — an opportunity to invest in your akhirah with lasting impact. Let’s strive to be among those who leave behind a trail of good that never ends.
May Allah accept our deeds, grant us sincerity, and allow us to be sources of ongoing goodness in this world. Ameen.
